Addons For Consoles: Some Clarification
One question that came up frequently after the Minecraft E3 presentation was, "Are addons on the new system going to be made by Mojang only, or can we make our own?" As it turns out, a little bit of both! While Mojang will have some addons of their own, the system is intended for players to make their own as well, allowing for an unprecedented level of customization on the console, pocket, and Win10 versions of the game. Awesome!
How user-made addons will be distributed is not currently known, nor to what degree of freedom users will have with addon creation.
Addons are planned with an architecture in mind, to facilitate easier addon creation with C++.
