MINECRAFT 2 (IS FAKE, PLEASE DON'T BUY IT)

Pictured: not Minecraft

A fake app is making the rounds on the Apple store, trying to scam people out of money. Calling itselfMinecraft: Pocket Edition 2, it is anything but. Fake screenshots (from the actual game), fake descriptions (also from the actual game), and even a fake author (named to sound similar to the FNAF developer) round off this aggravatingly obvious scam. The game itself - if one can call it that - features a sprite of Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat franchise, in what can only be described as a sad swipe game.

Should you see this app in the store, please avoid it. While it should go without saying, it seems the app has been bought a staggering number of times. Hopefully, we can avoid anyone else falling prey to this particular scam going forward.

Mojang have already taken steps to have the fake app removed from the store, and the process is ongoing.

More than anything, this has become a cautionary tale about purchases on the internet, of any kind: always be sure to look up reviews, just in case.
